summer green
summer green is turning

orange is the color
of the leaves
spinning
and spun
to the ground
orange is the color
of pumpkins carved
and waiting to be cut
pumpkins waiting to be lit

to think that
that
even as colors turn
in the chill
the chill
that comes with fall
the story isn’t over
oh oh oh
the story isn’t over yet

pale is the color
of the threads
spinning
and spun
into a coat of winter
a coat of winter
and pale is the space in the center
of an empty table
waiting to be colored
waiting to be filled

to think that
that
even as colors turn
in the chill
the chill
that comes with snow
the story isn’t over
oh oh oh
the story isn’t over yet

even though
in this hard season
the trees are barren
like a canvas
waiting for the brush
of an artist
I know that
I believe that the story isn’t over yet

to think that
that
even as colors fade
in the chill
the chill
that comes with snow
the story isn’t over
oh oh oh
the story isn’t over yet

the yellow sun
the yellow sun of spring is rising
like the rainbow of grace
after a night of rain

to think that
that
even as colors bloom
in the warmth
the warmth
that comes with spring
the story isn’t over
the story isn’t over yet

the green fields
the green fields of summer are returning
the lush fields of summer
that are the harvest of a stormy winter
