Is there really safety in distance

I never see you

but the world is still as dangerous as it always was

is there really safety in fear

I’ve never been more afraid

but all I really crave is connection

is there really safety in segregation

the mental walls that keep us apart

are closing in

when will we begin

to embrace the danger of life

the risk of tearing down our precious prisons

where we decay alone

when will we be ready to grow

past the ego that never wants to be challenged

or humbled enough to receive the love

and grace that releases us to live the life we should be living

together

***

the moment could be now

or shortly after

the opportunity is here

is love worth the danger

is that step of faith more dangerous

then sitting alone

in the squalor of a life without risk…
