Observations of a Tree

The tree began to form

after the fire

filled a forest with rage

a rage that destroyed

a rage that germinated a seed

turning green in a field of ash

the tree only grew healthier

through the hail

the hail beating down

the hail tearing away the dead limbs

that weren’t firmly fastened to the trunk

the strength of a tree can only be seen

as it stands

as it sways

in the world of wind trying

to pull it down
