Ignorance is bliss

and she was the happiest traveler of them all

she thought there would be peace in the sailing

in fact, she had been promised luxury in exchange for righteous living

but her life was like a cast away, thrown from a cruise ship in anger

and soon she found herself reaching

gasping

struggling with the memories of her betrayal

grasping for the surface

yet somehow, becoming stronger as she swam through her sorrow

through accepting that pain is the price she must pay for healing

she was learning of the grace that can salt the most bitter sea

when you finally surrender to the hands of the lifeguard pulling

trusting again seems so logical, so easy

as in his grip she was surfacing

exhausted but wiser

a black outline in the yellow hues of morning

still coughing out water before every new breath she was breathing

she was thanking God for his most unusual blessing

for despite all that had been taken

this struggle had given her the strength to go on loving…
